A shocking report stated how insecure the building was. None of the fire safety precautions were taken as well. The coaching centre owner used tyres for seats which caused the fire to spread quickly. Apparently, the coaching institute was just five feet high. In order to make room for students, the owner decided to use tyres that take up less space.
A team of police officers under the leadership of Surat Police Commissioner Satish Sharma is investigating into the case. Civic bodies across the state have formed teams to look into all buildings across the state that have not adhered to safety norms.
