Anjali Sunny beat all odds to pursue her dreams & love for art

Anjali Sunny, a painter, singer, graphic designer and accountant, tells us how she pursues so many interests in spite of a disability.
Anjali Sunny calls herself the jack of all trades and master of none, but that’s playing down the many talents this young woman has. A painter, singer, graphic designer and accountant, this wheelchair user from Kannur, has quite a fan following for her paintings.
Anjali was five years old when she started experiencing difficulties in moving around. In Class 4 she was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and started using a wheelchair. Her family never let her feel that she was less than anyone else and Anjali says it was thanks to them that she was able to pursue so many interests successfully.
Anjali completed a Master’s degree in commerce and now works as an accountant. She fills her spare time following all the many hobbies close to her heart.
I was interested in paintings even as a child but would mostly scribble. After completing my studies, I had a lot of free time. That is when I started exploring art more. Now, I mostly paint about nature on acrylics. Since the last two years, I have been experimenting a lot. –Anjali Sunny, Painter & accountant
Anjali’s muse is the artist Fathima Hakkim. “I just love her works, she says. She also picks up tips from YouTube videos.
Anjali’s tryst with graphic designing is more recent and she freelances for a few companies. She hopes to take it up full-time later after acquiring professional skills. And not to forget, she is a singer a swell and plays the keyboard.
Anjali hopes to conduct an exclusive exhibition of her works sometime soon. Since she is active on social media, she wants to reach out to a wider audience. She has 50 odd paintings to her credit.
“Anjali needs help to move around so when she needs help, I get her the paints and brushes, says mother Bincy Sunny. “As parents, we want to stand by her in spite of adversities. I would love to see her flourish as an artist in the future.
With loving hands like this backing her, Anjali feels the world is her’s to conquer.
