June 28, 2019

The jersey color for Indian cricket team for the upcoming match against England in 2019 ICC World Cup has created a controversy.

Instead of the usual blue color jersey, the Indian side will be wearing orange colored jerseys for the match.

The orange color of the player's kit has not gone well with the opposition parties and they are blaming the ruling party for the color selection. Since orange or saffron is a color usually associated with the BJP.

Congress MLA Arif Naseem Khan said, "For the past five years, the Modi-led government is trying to saffronise each and every thing. Be it sports, cultural activities or anything for that matter."

A source from ICC has clarified that the BCCI chose orange as England is wearing blue colored jerseys in the particular match.

The orange jersey design and color is also said to be inspired from an old T20 jersey from India.

Speaking about the color controversy, Indian team's bowling coach Bharat Arun said, "We aren't aware what colors we will be wearing." "We haven't given any thought to it.

The match between England and India is to be played on 30 June and is crucial for the team.
