High praise for Dhoni from Virat

June 30, 2019

India cricket captain Virat Kohli was full of praise for Mahendra Singh Dhoni after the massive win posted against West Indies in the ICC World Cup 2019 group stage encounter at Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday.

After this massive victory, India is now close to making it to the semi finals. India has not lost a single match so far in the World Cup tournament. Both India and New Zealand have 11 points each but India has the second spot due to a better Net Run Rate (NRR).

Kohli was named Man of the Match for his 72 runs while Dhoni with an unbeaten 56 together took India to a massive score. Dhoni started slowly but picked up speed to take India 268/7 in the allotted 50 overs.

After the match, Kohli was lavish with praise for Dhoni and said that his vast experience has helped the team out in tight situations. He talked about his understanding of the game, and said that Dhoni knew how to get the runs that made a difference at the end.

Dhoni knows exactly what he wants to do in the middle. When he has an off day here and there, everyone starts talking but we have always backed him. He has won us so many games and the best thing about having someone like him is when you need those 15-20 runs, he knows exactly how to get them. - Virat Kohli, India cricket captain

Kohli said that Dhoni's experience has come in handy at critical moments. "His experience, 8 out of 10 times has come good for us. He has such a keen understanding of the game and he always sends us feedback, that you know 260 is a good score. He's a legend of the game. We all know that. Just hope he can continue.

India will now take on England on Sunday and if they win this, they will make it to the last four. Beating England will not be easy as the team is in a good shape and is looking to win.
