Film stars back Centre's save water campaign

While the entire country is gearing towards water shortage, the central government has launched the Jal Shakthi Abhiyan project under guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'Jal Shakthi Abhiyan' campaign highlights on the need to conserve water for a better future. The campaign has already garnered a lot of attention on social media. Last Sunday, during his Mann Ki Baat radio programme, Modi had highlighted the importance of water conservation which was the main topic of discussion.

Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan and Amir Khan are endorsing the campaign through a video which is already going viral on social media. Modi appreciated their efforts to help the government bring the issue to the limelight.

Last month, Chennai, one of the biggest metropolitan cities was grappled by acute water shortage. All the three reservoirs that supply water to the city dried up in the scorching summer heat. The issue got international attention with Hollywood celebrities like Leonardo Dicaprio speaking up about it on social media.
