SimpleWave, a device that helps save elderly lives
Hong Kong-based Angelo Umali’s grandmother’s death after a fall led him to develop a wearable device that monitors the movements of the person wearing it.
Called SimpleWave, it is especially for the elderly who are more likely to fall as a result of ailments, slips or trips. It grants them independence while also making sure they are safe.
The device automatically detects a fall, analyses the impact and sends instant alerts to the user’s emergency contacts, including the attending doctor. This ensures immediate medical help. Since it collects and analyses information about the user’s mobile patterns, it can even predict a fall. SimpleWave information can be accessed on the Cloud.
