Just one teacher for each of Gurgaon's 41 government schools

A recent survey of schools in India has found that government-run schools in Gurgaon face a shocking shortage of teachers. There are 41 primary and middle schools in the Gurgaon district, and each school has just one teacher.

This one teacher not only teaches, but also doubles up as a clerk, wardens, midday meal server and nurse.

Gurgaon has many private schools known for their quality education but few can afford them.

The situation in government-run schools needs urgent improvement.
