Deaf individuals more likely to experience domestic violence, says study
A new study says that deaf individuals are one and a half times more likely to experience domestic violence than hearing individuals.
A deaf woman from the US has spoken out about how her ex-boyfriend who was also deaf used to physically abuse her for many years.
She finally gathered the courage to put an end to the violence and called the police but they failed to arrest the abuser due to lack of communication and education among the officers.
The domestic violence centre and the US police plan to improve the situation of deaf women who go through such abusive relationships by equipping video remote interpreters and text messaging services at police departments in the US.
