School in Kerala bans school bags for kids
Education experts in India have been pleading that children be put through less stress in school. A lower primary school in Kollam district, Kerala, has taken the lead by introducing a no-school bags policy. Students here carry just 2-3 books every day. The books given to them are also lower in weight. The school gives cloth bags to the children so they cannot carry too much. Food and water are also provided by the school. Several studies have shown that heavy school bags are affecting children, leading to spinal and lower back problems.
