A study by researchers in the United States says that the practice of Sudarshan Kriya yoga can help reduce severe depression.
Sudarshan Kriya yoga is a breathing-based meditation practice. It has been found to be effective in treating people with depression who are on medication.
The yoga helps to control breathing and this calms the mind. Researchers studied two groups of depressed patients. One group was treated with medicines only while the other practised breathing along with medicines.
After two months, the group that did yoga showed great improvement.
