Wearable barcodes for elderly with dementia in Japan
A new method has been introduced in a Japanese city to make sure that elderly people with dementia do not get lost.
The method involves the tagging of fingers and toes with scan-able barcodes.
Small sized stickers with a unique identity cards will be pasted on nails. These can identify a particular person.
The free service has been launched this month for the first time in Japan.
The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to manage the growing population of ageing people in the country.
