New Bill will help Learning Disability students get admission
Disability rights activists say that the new Bill will empower 70-100 million Indians. Even people with learning disability, which is estimated to affect one in every 10 students, or autism will get an opportunity to get admission to college.
Experts say that every year, over 1,000 seats in Delhi University are not filled. Yet, students with dyslexia are not given a seat as the law did not recognize it as a disability.
The law, experts believe, will provide a great opportunity for the 15 million youngsters with autism in India. Earlier, entitlements or concessions for children with autism were a struggle. In many towns, children with autism were labeled, as mentally retarded as there was no law to explain their condition.
