IIT Madras festival focuses on inclusion
The IIT Madras' festival called Shaastra has begun. This year's theme is sustainable and inclusive access under the theme 'augment.'
The festival, which ends on 4 January, includes 43 events, 23 workshops, 20 exhibitions and 11 lectures.
The highlights will be initiatives to aid people with disabilities, converting plastic to utility and a hackathon for the visually challenged.
Twenty visually challenged students, who were trained in coding with help from MIT and Stanford University, will be competing in the hackathon. The institute has been making its infrastructure more accessible every year.
