Video game app to treat depression in older adults
A new video game-based app has been developed to improve the thinking issues in older adults who are diagnosed with late-life depression.
Late-life depression means depression occurring for the first time in an older person after age 60. Its symptoms include sad mood, increased or decreased sleep, tired feelings, poor memory and concentration, among others.
The app called Project: EVO is designed to improve focus and attention at a basic neurological level among the older adults.
The idea is to prevent older people from getting easily disturbed by their worries and reduce late-life depression symptoms.
