Maharashtra fails to support students with disabilities

Data about facilities provided by the Maharashtra state government to children with special needs shows a lot of neglect.

The government schemes on education for these children are not being run properly.

More than 10,000 visually impaired students are enrolled in standard 1 to 12 and only 2,000 Braille books are given by the government and aids like wheelchairs are not enough either. Many students drop out in higher classes due to lack of proper infrastructure and facilities.
