Government launches digital literacy scheme for villagers
The government has approved a digital literacy programme called PMGDISHA – Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan.
The idea is to provide digital literacy to crores of people living in villages.
The budget given for the project is Rs 2,351.38 crore. The project is expected to be completed by March 2019.
Under this project, 25 lakh people will be trained in the current financial year 2016-17.
The scheme aims to empower villagers by giving them access to information, knowledge and skills for operating computers and other digital devices.
