School launches communication app for people with disabilities

A school in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has launched a mobile application for people with disabilities. The app is called Vaakya and uses picture-based communication for the speech impaired.

The application aims to provide communication tools to people with speech impairments, autism, cerebral palsy and various other mental and physical disabilities.

The school hopes that the app will help provide more independence and develop self-reliance.

Vaakya can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store. The school has also set up an e-commerce portal that sells handmade products made by the children at the school.
