Tamil Nadu shops boycott Pepsi, Coca Cola products
Thousands of commercial outlets across Tamil Nadu have launched a boycott of PepsiCo and Coca Cola products in a move to encourage local cola manufacturers.
Shopowners in Chennai have decided to not sell mineral water brands and popular soft drinks of multinational corporations, and will encourage people to use Indian brands.
The Indian Beverage Association has said this is against economic growth and will bring down the government's Make in India campaign.
Shop owners have spent the last two months educating consumers about the evils of foreign brands as they cause more harm than good. Restaurants and hotels are being asked to not sell these brands. Milk dealers will also not be selling milk manufactured by these companies.
