New cell phones for the deaf in the US
American non-profit Florida Telecommunications Relay Inc. has started to distribute new cell phones for its hearing impaired citizens.
The amplified cordless Bluetooth phones allows the users to either plug it into a landline or pair it with an existing cell phone having Bluetooth connectivity.
The phones are designed for people with low to moderate hearing loss with 40 dB capability.
The phones also have a digital answering machine.
The idea is to provide specialized and less costly telephone equipment for people with hearing impairments.
