Sensex closes 187 points up, Nifty settles above 9000

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were trading high on Thursday. This was because US Federal Reserve’s policy rate was increased by 25 basis points or 0.25 percentage point to a range of 0.75-1.00% as it was expected by investors.

The BSE Sensex closed 187.74 points up at 29,585.85 while the NSE Nifty closed 68.90 points up at 9,153.70. The top three Sensex gainers were Adani Ports (+4.73%), Tata Steel (+4.30%) and Bajaj-Auto (+2.31%). The top three Sensex losers were Hero Motoco (-1.32%), Bharti Airtel (-0.80%) and Reliance (-0.54%). The top three Nifty gainers were Adani Ports (+4.82%), Tata Steel (+4.52%) and Hindalco (+4.40%). The top three Nifty losers were Bharti Airtel (-0.72%), Reliance (-0.62%) and Idea (-0.53%).
