Bringing disabilities to YouTube

There are many women who are working to remove the wrong notions about disabilities on YouTube and in other creative spaces.

One of them is Rikki Poynter who calls herself a 25-Year-Old Deaf Vlogger in her YouTube channel description. Through her videos, she talks about the importance of captions on YouTube Videos.

Her work has inspired many people to put captions on to their videos.

In 2016, Rikki launched an online campaign called #NoMoreCraptions to raise awareness about the mistakes in YouTube's automatic captioning.

Another prominent figure is Claire Wineland who portrays her routine as a cystic fibrosis patient. It is a disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. Her channel provided information about the illness and shows others in similar situations that they are not alone.
