Engineers develop alert system for cows on the road
Indian engineers have developed a real-time alert system that can detect and alert drivers so they can avoid colliding with cows on the road. Cows on the road are a common problem in parts of south Asia.
The system uses a camera that can determine whether an object near the vehicle is a cow on the road and is a risk to the vehicle. An audio or visual indicator is then set off so the driver can apply the brakes.
The system is low-cost and highly reliable and can be easily implemented in automobiles for detection of cow or any other animal.
However, the problem of what to do about cows on the road at night is yet to be addressed.
