Sensex closes 144 points down, Nifty settles below 9250

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were trading low on Wednesday. This was because investors were worried before the release of the macro-economic data later today. Also, the global markets have been under pressure because of the growing tensions between North Korea and the US after the bombing of a Syrian airbase last week.

The BSE Sensex closed 144.87 points down at 29,643.48 while the NSE Nifty closed 33.55 points down at 9,203.45. The top three Sensex gainers were Sun Pharma (+1.83%), Hero Motoco (+0.77%) and Lupin (+0.74%). The top three Sensex losers were Tata Steel (-2.12%), Adani Ports (-2.06%) and Wipro (-1.95%). The top three Nifty gainers were Bosch Ltd (+3.75%), Infratel (+3.32%) and Sun Pharma (+2.31%). The top three Nifty losers were Tata Steel (-2.16%), Wipro (-1.99%) and Hindalco (-1.99%).
