Indian women suffer more from anxiety disorders, says study
In India, one in 20 people suffering from mental illness do not get treatment, says a recent study by the World Health Organisation, WHO.
It also says that a large number of women in India suffer from anxiety and mood disorders. The study by WHO shows that the prevalence of anxiety disorders in men was 2.44% while in women it was 4.42%.
But most people do not receive treatment. Only 5 out of 100 people with common mental disorders have received treatment over the past year.
The study says that there is a need to strengthen primary care support and community mental health activities.
