New app to help track power failure, cuts
The government of India has introduced a new mobile app called Urja Mitra.
The new app and Urja Mitra website allows consumers across the country to keep a check on the electric power failure in real-time.
It helps urban and rural consumers to register complaints on electric power supply related problems in their area.
Complaints can also be registered on the all-India helpline number 1912.
The initiative will also help consumers get alerts on expected duration and reason of planned power cuts as well as reason and duration of unplanned power cuts through SMSes, emails or push notifications.
