Sonu Nigam shaves off his hair after controversy over azaan comment
Singer Sonu Nigam shaved off his hair after he was accused of being anti-Muslim after his comment that the azaan should not be broadcast over loudspeakers.
He told the media that his remarks were not directed at any one religion in particular but against the use of loudspeakers. He said, 'azaan is important, not loudspeaker. Arti is important, not loudspeaker'.
Nigam was shaving his hair in response to a statement from a Muslim priest announcing a reward of Rs 10 lakh to anyone who would shave off his hair.
The singer also said that he did not mean to insult Prophet Mohammad in any way. He said that forced religiousness must end in India and that it was not fair to people of any religion to be woken up by loudspeakers.
