Popular medicines in India fail quality tests

The regulator of medicines in the country has found that some popular drugs sold in India are below standard when it comes to quality.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, CDSCO, tested the medicines last month and found that painkiller Combiflam and cold medicine D Cold Total do not meet quality standards.

The two drugs are manufactured and sold by Sanofi India and Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare India.

Cipla’s Oflox-100 DT tablets and Theo Asthalin tablets, Cadila’s Cadilose solution have also been found to be substandard.

Some of these medicines have failed quality tests several times.
