Depression clinics for women started in Kerala
Number of suicides among women during the pregnancy and after delivery has been apparently increasing in Kerala.
To solve the issue, Health Minister K K Shylaja initiated two depression clinics, Prashanti and Sarathy, at a Medical College in the state.
The Prashanti clinics will work at the SAT Hospital in Medical College. Sarathy, a community-based depression clinic, will work at Pangappara, Vakkom medical health centres.
The state government aims to open depression clinics at all government hospitals soon.
The idea is to deal with the problems of depression in women and children.
