The Deaf Carrom Association, Mumbai has been successfully hosting an annual competition for more than a decade now. The registrations for the 13th Annual Maharashtra Deaf Carrom Championship are now open. The championship sees participation from hundreds of Carrom players from all walks of life.

Deaf Carrom Association, Mumbai was founded in 2008 with the aim to create a unifying platform for the deaf community. It was meant to be a place where deaf people could find like-minded friends and not feel left out.

The carrom competition is a fun filled motivator for deaf people to come forward to show their skills and also connect with others. People of all ages come to play in the event and learn a thing or two new while making friends and having a great time.

Harjit Singh Bharara is the Chairman of the association and says, “It is my personal ambition to make sure that the Deaf Carrom Association provides a platform for all handicapped people to get together socially and professionally, a chance often denied to them in mainstream society.”

The Annual Maharashtra Deaf Carrom Championship has gained massive popularity over the years. In 2018, more than 200 deaf players took part in the competition and over 200 people came to witness the unique gaming event.

Chhaya Chaugle is a 69 year old Mumbai resident and is an avid carrom player since her childhood. She takes part in the competition of Deaf Carrom Association, Mumbai every year and has won several awards for her skills.

I wait eagerly for the time of the year when the competition takes place and take part every year. I feel this is a great opportunity for people who are deaf and I also love the game. The competition takes place in various categories and is extremely challenging and fun. I win every year and that also keeps me motivated to continue improving my game. Chhaya Chaugle Carrom player.

The registrations are open already and the championship will be held on 9 Februray 2020 in Mumbai. Interested players can sign up and get the opportunity to showcase their talent and win grand prizes.
