Abhivyakti meaning ‘expression’ is the flagship annual event hosted by Hyderabad based Nayi Disha Resource Centre. The event is a platform for children with developmental disabilities to showcase their talents, have fun learning new skills, interact with others and a lots more. Abhivyakti is not only for the kids but also involves parents as well making it an amazingly inclusive platform.

Nayi Disha Resource Centre is a Non-Profit Organisation that was founded with the aim of supporting and guiding families with children with developmental disabilities. When a child is diagnosed with a children with developmental issue, it may have a huge impact on families.

Parents need support, guidance and information that can help them understand and work with the situation in the best possible manner. Nayi Disha Resource Centre provides the much needed support to the families and currently has a huge network of parents and professionals working towards the goal of welfare of children with developmental disabilities.

Abhivyakti is unique platform that brings children and their families together. Children participate in a wide range of cultural activities and perform before the audience. Parents and Nayi Disha volunteers actively participate in the organization of the program. It is a great opportunity for parents to meet each other and it is absolutely amazing to see our kids perform on the stage. Aparna Srinivasan, parent.

In keeping with the idea of inclusion, Abhivyakti 2019 is dedicated to bringing people together from all walks of life and will be held on 1 December. The event is motivating people with or without disabilities to celebrate the talents of children with disabilities and motivate them to be a part of the mainstream without any judgments, bias and discriminations.

Hyderabad based parent Deepa Desai feels that Abhivyakti is a very effective platform that promotes inclusion.

“For talented children who are in special needs category but do not get to perform, Abhivyakti gives them the platform to showcase their talents. The society gets to take a look at the amazing strengths and talents of the children and it helps to change the mindsets of people. Abhivyakti is entirely curated by volunteers, most of them parents of children with and without disabilities. It promotes and creates inclusion which is much needed in our society,” says Deepa Desai.

This year’s Abhivyakti includes a multitude of activities featuring children with disabilities. Dance, music, storytelling, a very creative skit on Paralympics, fashion show and a lot of fun activities will enthrall the audience.

Apart from the entertainment on the stage, there will be a lot to do offstage as well. Visitors can relish delicious food, play games, check out some mazing crafts made by the children, organic products etc. on the stalls at Abhivyakti.

The children are having a lot of fun and are working hard on their performances. Abhivyakti is open for everyone and it would be an amazing opportunity for people to attend the event and cheer for the kids.
