Accessible taxi service Ezy Mov ties up with Indian Railways’ to offer services at Mumbai stations

Accessibility

Trains remain the most preferred means for long distance transport in India due to the vast railway network across the country. Travelling can be challenging for people with disabilities due to lack of accessible infrastructure. Ezy Mov, a company that offers wheelchair-accessible transport services will soon make it more convenient for people with disabilities to get to railway stations.

Ezy Mov, India’s 1st wheelchair Taxi Company, is collaborating with the Indian Railways for a unique project that will provide transportation to and from select railway stations for travelers with disabilities and senior citizens in Mumbai.

Many a times people with restricted mobility, wheelchair users and senior citizens avoid travelling as it is a struggle to get an accessible transport that can move them safely to train stations.

Ezy Mov is hoping to bring about a positive change with the pilot project that is all set to start from January 2020.

Bennet Dcunha, Director of Ezy Mov spoke to Newz Hook about the first of its kind tie up with the Indian Railways.

We want to ensure that people who have to travel long distances through trains are not discouraged to travel due to lack of inclusive transport facilities. We are starting the service in Mumbai and we are sure it will enable more people with disabilities to travel to and from railways stations hassle free. We want this tie up to be a positive example of public and private sector coming together to offer inclusive and accessible facilities to the disabled community. Bennet Dcunha, Director, Ezy Mov

The transport option will initially be available across nine different railway terminus across Mumbai from next year.

The pick and drop facility will be started at Panvel, Kalyan, Borivalli ,Kurla, Dadar, Bombay Central, CST, Lokmanya Tilak and Thane terminus.

The railway station transport service will be available to the travelers on the Indian Railways website and can be availed at the time of the booking of tickets, and also by directly contacting Ezy Mov.

Rajesh Wani , a Mumbai resident and wheelchair user says that he is happy that such a facility is being worked on.
“It is great news as many people with disabilities find it difficult to ravel due to lack of accessible facilities. Thanks to Ezy mov I am able to go out for work and lead my life the way I want. I am sure the tie up with Indian railway will benefit a lot of people, says Rajesh Wani.

Ezy Mov vehicles come fitted with ramp for wheelchair access, or a wheelchair lift and are comfortable and safe for people with disabilities.

Ask Bhavna

Hi, I'm Bhavna Sharma. An Inclusion Strategist with Newz Hook. Yes, I am a person with disability. But that doesn't define who I am. I am a youth, a woman and also the 1st Miss Disability of India 2013. I wanted to achieve something in life and I have been working for the last 9 years. I have recently completed my MBA in Human Resources because I want to grow. I am like every other young person in India. I want a good education, a good job and I want to help my family financially. So you can see I am like everyone else, yet people see me differently.

Here is the Ask Bhavna column for you where I would like to talk to you about the law, society and people's attitudes and how we can build inclusion in India together.

So, if you have a question about any issue related to disability, bring them out and I can try to answer them? It could be a question relating to a policy or of a personal nature. Well, this is your space to find the answers!
