Accused in Jharkhand mob murder set free
September 11, 2019
Last June, 24 year old Tabrez Ansari was lynched to death by an angry mob in Jharkhand. Reportedly, Ansari who was returning back home was caught by the mob who falsely accused him of bike theft. He was later tied and beaten for many hours after which he succumbed to his injuries the next day. Ansari was forced to chant Hindu God names during his entire ordeal. Now, murder charges against all the accused men in the mob lynching have been dropped because Ansari's post-mortem revealed that he died of cardiac arrest.
The Jharkhand police cannot protect the mob lynchers just because they're connected with the BJP. The perpetrators MUST be brought to justice. The Modi govt. must openly declare whether it supports & protects mob lynchers or whether it really cares about justice-Saket Gokhale, Twitter User.
12 people were arrested in the case and all of them have been let off. The video of Ansari being beaten to death had gone viral on social media. Many renowned politicians and activists came forward to help give justice to Ansari and put the accused behind bars. Reportedly, two post-mortems were done and both had shown that Ansari died of a cardiac arrest.
This latest incident has sparked outrage and many people took to social media to express their anger over accused being let free.
"This is the nudge and encouragement violent bigotry and mob murderers need. They've also been famously garlanded in Jharkhand in the past ", tweeted Sankarshan Thakur.
"Isn't it obvious that severe trauma to the head let to the cardiac arrest? That was a day light murder for God's sake!", tweeted Madhur Prabhakar.
