IncInk Records, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh’s music label, is taking a big step towards inclusion. The label is apparently working towards creating music for people who are deaf and hard of hearing.

After rocking audiences and the box office with his performance as a rapper in the hit film Gully Boy, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is taking his love for music to yet another level. Ranveer’s newly launched independent music label IncInk Records is now working on making inclusive music for deaf and hard of hearing listeners.

In March this year, Ranveer launched the IncInk Records Company with filmmaker Navzar Eranee. The aim, he said, was to promote budding music talent in India. The Inc in the label is said to inclusivity. At the time of the launch, Ranveer had tweeted, ““Inclusive. Independent. This is the soul of #IncInk – my passion project.”

Talking about the initiative, Ranveer told the media,

I can’t imagine my life without songs, and there are so many people who don’t have the option of experiencing music at all! We wanted to attempt to change that. We want to translate our art in a way so those who cannot hear can somehow still consume it; even if they can’t hear our songs but can in this manner see what we are trying to say with our music and maybe enjoy it, that’s all we want. Every single thing we do at IncInk is all heart. – Ranveer Singh, Bollywood star

Just this weekend, Ranveer released a romantic song called Mohabbat from the IncInk label. Speaking to the press, IncInk co-founder Eranee said, “IncInk has endeavoured to include artists in the creation of our expression and the sharing of it. We wanted to include sign language from day one with all our music creative. We want to make it mandatory as a practice and as we look into the future, utilise more techniques to include a larger audience who may not have the benefits that we enjoy when it comes to the arts.”.

Recently artist Spitfire, also known as Nitin Mishra performed his song Vartalap on the hip hop reality show MTV Hustle, accompanied by a sign language interpreter who interpreted the lyrics in sign language. Mishra is associated with IncInk Records and is one of the artists who have signed up with the label.
