Congratulatory messages for Big B over Phalke award

The news that superstar Amitabh Bachchan will win the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year has been greeted with much happiness by his family and friends. Among the first to tweet a message was his son Abhishek Bachchan who said he couldn't be more "proud" of him.

76-year-old Bachchan will be given India's highest film honour said Union Minister Prakash Javadekar who tweeted the big news. "The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him."

Bachchan Junior said he was "overjoyed and so, so proud." Congratulating her "Papa," Shweta Bachchan Nanda shared an old picture of Bachchan and wrote:

Whose your Dada (Saheb Phalke)? Uncontainable excitement, pride, tears, and general hysteria! Congratulations Papa. - Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan's daughter

Filmmaker Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor joined a galaxy of other celebrities in greeting the star. Johar called him "the most inspiring legend" of Indian cinema and added, "He is a bona-fide rockstar! I am honoured and proud to be in the era of Amitabh Bachchan".

"There is no mention of Indian cinema without this legend! He has redefined cinema with every role and deserves every accolade for his innumerable contributions!" tweeted Anil Kapoor.

Riteish Deshmukh said, "No one deserves this more!" Singer Asha Bhosle, who is part of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Jury, said, ""As a Dadasaheb Phalke Award Jury Member, I am pleased to congratulate Shri Amitabh Bachchanji on his getting this prestigious award."

Bachchan has also won four National Film Awards for Best Actor and he won the award last in 2015 for the film Piku. a
