Cummins gets 15.5 crore at IPL 2020 auction

The Indian Premier League 2020 auction took place in Kolkata yesterday. Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has become the most expensive overseas player bought at IPL. He went to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 15.5 crore, with a base price of ₹2 crore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals both bid hard for the top player but lost him to Kolkata Knight Riders.
“Absolutely pumped to be back on board … Can’t wait to get over there,” Cummins said on twitter.
Some other players were also bought for huge amounts. Glenn Maxwell went to the Kings XI Punjab for Rs 10.75 crore. Glenn Maxwell had recently taken a short break from cricket because of mental health issues.
South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris was taken by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10 crore.
West Indies fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell was bought by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 8.5 crore. Mumbai Indians paid Rs 8 crore to get Nathan Coulter-Nile.
75% of the auction price is given to the players as their salary for the IPL season and the rest of the amount goes to their national cricket board.
Virat Kohli had shared a message with the RCB fans earlier. He said in a video in twitter, “We’ve had a few discussions to build a team around, strong core that we already have and we assure you that we are going to cover all the bases that are required and build a very strong team to have a really good season in 2020.”
