Lokesh Narasimha Murthy from Bengaluru was born deaf. Since he was passionate about pottery making since childhood, Lokesh decided to pursue that. Today, he conducts workshops and even sells pottery at various exhibitions and other events across the city. His eco-friendly Ganesh idols are always in demand. Lokesh’s journey is truly motivating and inspiring.

Lokesh Narasimha Murthy, from Bengaluru, was born deaf. Today, a successful and well-respected potter, he holds workshops and classes across the city. He is known for his eco-friendly Ganesha idols that are in demand round the year. Lokesh loves experimenting with different materials and designs and shares his knowledge with students. If you are a regular visitor at flea markets, exhibitions, food festivals and art events in Bengaluru, you won’t miss his works.

Many people have helped me flourish my business which I started off as a passion. Vendors at events have also been kind enough to me so that I can exhibit my works there. When your works gets showcased at the right places, sales comes easy. I get a lot of appreciation for my work too. – Lokesh Narasimha Murthy, Potter

The last Ganesh Chaturthi season was a busy one for Lokesh, and he could sell many of his works. His idols which range from an inch to three feet are priced between Rs 100 – 5,000.. With most people now opting for eco-friendly Ganeshas, Lokesh is in high demand.

Lokesh is now gearing up for Diwali and will be making clay lamps that are colourfully painted. Such festivals give him the opportunity to showcase new designs. In August, he held a workshop at the GiftAbled Foundation.. “He has introduced me to pottery and helped me know about its soothing effects too”, says Prarthana Kaul, Co-founder, GiftAbled Foundation. “GiftAbled has already done a few pottery sessions with him”. What’s extraordinary is that Lokesh donates to GiftAbled ventures from the income he earns”.
