Death toll rises in monsoon fury at Himachal Pradesh

Heavy rains had already created havoc in most parts of India including Assam, Kerala, Karnataka and Bihar killing hundreds of people. Now, monsoon fury is in full fledge at Himachal Pradesh. More than 30 people lost their lives at Himachal in landslides and other rain related accidents. Reportedly, many people are still missing in various parts of the state and tourists from across the globe are stranded unable to move out.
Very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall conditions have occurred at many places over #HimachalPradesh during the last 36 to 48 hours. Due to these rainfall conditions, #floods and #landslides have occurred at many places all over the state-Skymet Weather.
No food and water is available to the people. Due to landslides, road traffic in most prominent routes were also affected. Roofs of many houses collapsed as well. National highways and schools in the state remain closed until water levels recede.
As rains lash across Delhi, a flood alert has been issued in the city and its suburbs. Officials have asked people in Punjab, Haryana and parts of Uttar Pradesh to be on alert as the weather forecast has predicted heavy rains in these areas. People are requested to evacuate their homes if water levels increase.
Social media was flooded with shocking images and videos of landslides and floods across the state. Many people from various parts of the country came forward with relief materials for flood affected Himachal Pradesh.
"Khalsa Care volunteers are about to reach Punjab and help the people suffering from excessive rain. The states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh are given flood alert and Khalsa Care team is ready to support the people in any type of contingency", tweeted Akali Dal MLA Manjinder S Sirsa..
