Delhi records lowest temperature

The national capital New Delhi recorded lowest temperature on Saturday. The temperature dropped down to 2.4 degrees which is considered to be the lowest of the season. Reportedly, it was the second coldest morning since the year 1901. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Delhi as cold wave conditions continue to persist.
Wondering why it’s so cold in Delhi this morning! The minimum temperature has touched 2.4 degree at Safdurjung, lowest this season yet. Previous lowest this month was 2.3 on Dec 11, 1996 while all time low was 0 degree Celsius in 1930. Lodhi Road 1.7, Ayanagar 1.9- Ritam Halder. Journalist.
The city and nearby areas were covered with thick fog throughout the day. Traffic was also deeply affected. Many flights were delayed and some were cancelled due to the fog. According to the weather department, the cold will reduce in the weeks to come. “At 0600-0630 hrs IST of today 28.12.2019 visibility reported (in meters) Delhi Airport 0000 m, Gaya 0100m, Mohanbari 0050 m. Latest RGB composite Satellite imageries shows the fog over northern part of the country”, tweeted IMD.
Delhi still remains one of the most polluted cities in the world. With the cold weather in full-swing, the air has turned out to be hazardous to breathe. Nearby areas like Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh will also remain cold for the next few days. Rain and hailstorm has been predicted in many parts of North India.
