Delhi stadium to be named after Arun Jaitley

The famous Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi is being renamed in memory of the former finance minister late Arun Jaitley who passed away on 24 August.
Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in the capital and from 12 September will be officially known as the Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, the ground will still be called Feroz Shah Kotla ground.
Jaitley had served as the Delhi and District Cricket Association- DDCA president from 1999 to 2013. During his tenure lot of developmental work was carried out at the stadium and it evolved as a modern stadium with high class facilities.
DDCA president Rajat Sharma tweeted,"In a fitting tribute to its former President #ArunJaitley , Delhi and District Cricket Association has decided to name Ferozeshah Kotla stadium as Arun Jaitley Stadium. The stadium will be named Arun Jaitley stadium, the name of the ground will remain as Ferozeshah Kotla ground."
He also wrote," It was #ArunJaitley 's support and encouragement that players like Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Rishabh Pant and many others could make India proud', DDCA president Rajat Sharma added. @delhi_cricket."
A function will be held at the venue on 12 September to rename the stadium. As per an earlier announcement, a viewing stand will be named after India captain Virat Kohli on the same day.
As per reports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the function as the chief guest, and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju as the guest of honour.
Former India cricketer turned politician MP Gautam Gambhir has written to the Lt Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal to rename the Yamuna Sports Complex after Arun Jaitley.
He tweeted, "May he remain in our hearts forever. As a mark of respect to our beloved leader, I hereby propose to rename "Yamuna Sports Complex" as "Arun Jaitley Sports Complex" #RiPJaitleySir."
