Dhoni's future in selectors' hands: Saurav Ganguly

September 18, 2019

There is still no clarity regarding MS Dhoni as far as his cricketing career goes. The player has not said a word about his plans with the Indian cricket team and fans and the cricketing world is in a state of confusion. Some former cricketers believe Dhoni should decide on his future himself but ex India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has spoken up.

Ganguly says Virat Kohli and the selectors should take a call on Dhoni's future. "I don't know what the selectors think, what Virat thinks. They are the important persons, let them make the decision," he said.

India is currently playing against South Africa and the first match was washed out. The second match of the T20I series is today at Mohali. Ganguly believes India are the favourites to win the T20I and Test series against South Africa. Dhoni is not playing in this series.

India are favourites. India at home is a dangerous team. They are very hard to beat and that's been the case for years. - Saurav Ganguly, Former India cricket captain

Recently a tweet by Virat went viral sparking off rumours of Dhoni's international retirement. This is after Virat tweeted a picture of him sitting on his haunches after beating Australia in a league game in 2016. He said, "A game I can never forget. Special night. This man, made me run like in a fitness test," This led to a frenzy of reports that Dhoni was retiring.
