12 year old Drupad Krishna and 11 year old Milan Babu are studying at Navajeevan Special School in Kochi. Both of them sing well and even hopes to build a career in music when they grow up. In fact, music has brought together these young boys who now share a great camaraderie too.

For 12 year old Drupad Krishna, music has done wonders. A passionate singer, Drupad is determined to chase his passion for the art form to establish a career in it. At school, he met 11 year old Milan Babu with whom he shared similar interests and was equally passionate about music. Soon, they built a strong camaraderie.

Both Drupad and Milan are students at the Navajeevan Special School in Kochi. Drupad, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, has difficulties in walking. But a disability has not stopped this young boy from chasing his passion for music. He recollects singing songs from early childhood. His family comprising of parents and brother supports him throughout.

Reshma, my music teacher, ensures that she teaches me everything in music and I love attending her classes. Apart from that, I visit YouTube and check out songs everyday. Since I love cinema songs that is a great way for me to learn them. I have been learning music since the past four years and hope to even build a career in this-Drupad Krishna.

Malayalam playback singers Yesudas and Vineeth Sreenivasan are his all-time favourites. “Yesudas sir’s music has inspired me. Vineeth sir’s songs are quite cool and trendy. I keep learning them every time they come up on YouTube or TV”, says Drupad, who hopes to become an orthopaedic doctor when he grows up. A trained piano player, Drupad wants to learn how to play more musical instruments. Little Drupad is looking out for the next school annual festival so that he can sing many songs.

When Milan Babu was diagnosed with autism, little did his parents knew that their son had exceptional talents to sing. It was his mother who first noticed it and decided to help him pursue that. Milan is currently studying in class 7 at Navajeevan. “I love singing and also learning new songs since childhood. Everyone at home loves listening to my songs and that is how I started singing frequently. My favourite singer is Vijay Yesudas and I hope that I can also become a playback singer like him someday”, says Milan.

Both of them have sang together at various venues and they are offered a lot of chances at Navajeevan School itself. Last Onam was special to both Drupad and Milan as they participated in music events and sang to their heart’s fill.
