Fast track court for Hyderabad gang rape, murder case

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has said a fast track court will hear the case of the brutal rape and murder of the veterinary doctor in Hyderabad.
He also promised support to family of the victim and instructed the officials to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
The victim was returning back from work on Wednesday night when her scooter tyre was punctured by one of the accused. The four accused pretended to offer help, raped her and then burnt her alive. Her charred body was found on Thursday morning.
The family of the victim has accused the police of not taking the matter up fast enough when they were approached regarding the missing girl.
Union Minister of State for Home Kishan Reddy said, “No one can be turned away from the police station like that. We will make it compulsory for every police station to accept a complaint. The FIR can be filed later; first they should have helped to search the girl.”
Three policemen were suspended over delay in filing a First Investigation Report (FIR).
The four accused identified as Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakesavulu worked as truck drivers and assistants, drank whiskey before attacking the woman.
Social media user Arun tweeted, “Check case of 9 months old girl rape in warangal of Telangana where culprit was sentenced to death in 56 days by fast track court. But highcourt given reduced sentence. Need to change IPC and statute to remove request for appeal. Only central government can do it.”
