If you are a person with disability, check them out on the Preview Day Sale on 9 August, where a sensitised staff will give you a guided shopping experience and walk away with some amazing deals and discounts.
Are you looking for an elegant kurta to wear for Rakshabandhan or perhaps some casual pyjamas to relax in at home? Head out to any Big Bazaar or FBB store on 9 August for the Preview Day Sale.
Future Group's FBB is a consistent trend setter when it comes to designs and prices. From formal work wear for men and women to accessories, shoppers are spoilt for choice.
If you are a blind or a low vision person, well then, FBB is the place for you! The dedicated shopping assistants here stay with your from the minute you walk in, helping you to make the right choices. The staff is sensitised to the needs of people with disabilities and trained to address every need.
This is a huge deal for people who are visually impaired who need help in choosing the right colour or the perfect cut. Many of them are dependent on friends or family to go shopping but FBB and Big Bazaar take away that dependency.
Like Pratik Agarwal, an entrepreneur, experienced at a Jaipur outlet when he went clothes shopping. "I needed to buy clothes and the staffer described the colours, prints and brands in detail. Even family members don't describe things in such detail".
This week, on the Preview Day Sale on 9 August, you can enjoy this service and access amazing deals and discounts across all 357 Big Bazaar and FBB stores in India. The say has been set aside for customers with disabilities to access amazing discounts in electronics, appliances and clothes. You can book a shopping assistant in advance or walk into any store to enjoy the facility.
Great deals, discounts
So, what are FBB deals awaiting you? Take a peek. There's fashion for Kids' starting at ₹ 99, and Ladies and Men, ₹ 299 upwards. This extends to business, casual, ethnic and home wear.
That's not all. You can look forward to a ₹ 1,200 cashback on shopping of ₹ 3,000. SBI credit and debit card users get 7% instant discount for a minimum purchase of ₹ 4,000.
Diversity in fashion is a key commitment of FBB. At SPARK, an annual event hosted by Future Group earlier this year to showcase FBB- India's Fashion Hub's summer collection, the show stoppers were visually impaired radio jockey Simran Chawla and disability rights activist Virali Modi, who walked the ramp in adaptive clothes designed by Brand FBB. As they took to the stage with non-disabled models, it was a powerful statement about inclusive fashion.
This consistent and continuous engagement with the disabled community has come to be a hallmark of all Future Group initiatives. Like training workshops held for visually impaired girls at select Big Bazaar and FBB stores in December last year on the occasion of World Disability Day, an initiative that was repeated earlier this year.
"There were three training workshops held in cooking, fashion and beauty at Big Bazaar and FBB stores", says Prashant Ranjan Verma, General Secretary, National Association for the Blind, Delhi, which collaborated with Future Group in this initiative. "The idea was to focus on aspects that visually impaired people are not confident about. Also, these are things that the mainstream population feels visually impaired people cannot do".
The workshops were held in select store across Indian cities. "At the fashion workshops, girls were made to touch and feel different outfits, dress the mannequins, taught how to match outfits etc", adds Prashant.
Many such inclusive touches are evident. Take changing rooms for instance. Typically they are cramped, with little aisle space or room to even turn around in. Imagine just how inaccessible they are for wheelchair users. There are no handlebars either to hold on to while changing. In an ongoing makeover, changing rooms at select FBB and Big Bazaar outlets have been made bigger with wide doorways. This makes it easy for wheelchair users to manoeuvre themselves in and out. Going ahead, the group aims to make changing rooms at all stores accessible for wheelchair users.
"Every effort has been taken to prioritise people with disabilities, be it those who are deaf or blind", says disability rights advocate Nipun Malhotra. "There is also a buddy system so someone accompanies you throughout the store. Worldwide, everyone is talking abut independent shopping and enabling this is so important".
Sale days especially tend to be chaotic and confusing but with a day dedicated to people with disabilities, FBB is helping to ensure that no customer is left behind. Maharashtra deaf leader Pradeep More calls it a 'great and positive move'. "I wish other retailers and organisations start thinking like FBB and make the society inclusive".

Such initiatives help build awareness in the larger community, believes Gopi Ramakrishnan, Co-founder, Special Child Assistance Network, a a support group for parents of children with disabilities.
"People start asking questions about who these facilities are for and why, and this helps build awareness. The main beneficiary is the disabled person, they get a chance to shop like everyone else. It so empowering for the person with disability to choose the items and pay for them".
Don't miss the Big Bazaar Preview Day Sale on 9 August. Walk into any store to enjoy an accessible shopping experience.
