September 23, 2019
Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy had broken records at the Indian box office after its release earlier this year. The movie is now all set to enter Oscar 2020. 'Gully Boy' has been selected as India's official entry to international Oscar awards. The movie starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Siddhant Chaturvedi in leading roles highlighted the life of a young rapper who was born and raised in Mumbai city. The movie has received a lot of applause from critics and audience. Both Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt took to social media to express their happiness. Their fans and people from the industry congratulated them. ""Gully Boy" at the Oscar's??? HAAAAARD. Bohot hard!! Lovely!!", tweeted writer Shobhaa De.
Fans are now awaiting to check out if 'Gully Boy' is going to bring home more laurels for Oscars that is scheduled to happen on 9 February 2020.
Bollywood actors Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Raaz and Vijay Varma were also part of 'Gully Boy' that released last February across India. "GULLY BOY may not be the best film among the 28 movies shortlisted to be sent to the Oscars, but it's a smart choice in terms of bolstering India's chances. Crowd-pleasing, well-acted underdog story that won't intimidate Academy audiences. Also, I dare say, slums", tweeted media person Aniruddha Guha.
