India defeated West Indies by 107 runs in the second ODI in Visakhapatnam yesterday. KL Rahul made 102 runs and Rohit Sharma 159 helping India level the three-match series by 1-1.

Opener Rohit Sharma smashed his 28th hundred in ODI making it the 10th international hundred he has scored in a year. He also broke his own world record for hitting most sixes in all formats in international cricket in one calendar year. Rohit hit five sixes yesterday and now his tally of sixes in 2019 is at 77.

Rohit said after the match, “It was a much-needed victory for us. We wanted to get our act together. We had a very very crucial partnership. KL batted brilliantly and allowed me to take my time. KL is such a talent when you watch it from the opposite end. He is growing in confidence. New partner and you saw the running between wasn’t up to the mark,”

Team India Captain Virat Kohli got out on the first-ball at zero runs registering his first golden duck in ODI cricket after six years.

Kuldeep Yadav has become the first Indian to take two hat-tricks in international cricket. He took the wickets of West Indies’ Shai Hope, Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph yesterday. His first ODI hat-trick was against Australia in 2017.

“We need to field better, we can’t afford to drop catches as we have. Fielding is about wanting the ball, as long as we enjoy ourselves, we’ll be right up there on the field as well,” said Kohli after the match.
