India’s first Day-Night Test starts today

India’s first-ever Day-Night Test against Bangladesh will start today at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The tickets for the first four days of the test have already sold out and more than 60,000 people will be at the stadium to watch the game.
Captain Virat Kohli called the test a landmark occasion for Indian cricket and said, “The pink-ball Test is a challenge for us. It is very exciting for us as the energy will be very high. It is a landmark occasion,”
He also pointed out that playing with the pink ball is no less than a challenge for the players.
“The fielding session with the pink ball was biggest challenge. People will be surprised how difficult fielding can be with the pink ball. The ball definitely felt heavier,” Kohli said.
Since the match Day and Night match is played under artificial lights, a pink ball is used for better visibility. Pinku and Tinku are the official mascots for the historic test.
The match will start at one in the afternoon and will be stopped at 8 pm as dew sets in after that making the ball wet and slippery. The first 40 minute break will be at 3 pm IST and tea will be taken at 5.40 PM with a 20-minute break before the final session.
“Pink-ball Test is a good thing. We should try out different things to make Test cricket exciting,” said former Indian player Yuvraj Singh.
