Internet back in Assam after 10 days

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has assured the people of the state that their rights, identity and language are safe. This is after the widespread protests in the state against the citizenship law.
His comments come after the mobile internet services were restored in Assam almost 10 days after the violent protests. Mobile internet services were banned in almost the entire state.
I want to assure people that no one can steal the rights of the sons of the soil of Assam and there is no threat to our language or our identity. In no way will the honour of Assam be affected. We will always have the support of the people and will move forward with peace in the state. – Sarbananda Sonowal , Assam Chief Minister
In the meantime, internet and text messaging services have been suspended in 14 districts of Uttar Pradesh following large scale violence. Over 3,000 people are in preventive custody. Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi, has asked all telecom operators and internet service providers to suspend services until Saturday noon. This was done to prevent the “possible misuse” of SMS, WhatsApp, YouTube and Facebook.
Internet has also been shut down in Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada districts in Karnataka.
