#JobsForDisabled – As process advisor at Barclays, Shagun Pathak works actively to promote a culture of inclusion

In our series #JobsForDisabled, we profile Shagun Pathak who works at Barclays, a multinational financial services company. Shagun manages multiple customers with ease and is actively involved in initiatives to promote inclusion at the workplace.
As process advisor at top multinational financial services company Barclays, Shagun Pathak has to handle multiple customers. The 29-year-old joined the organisation over six years ago. “My profile is that of an analyst. This involves being on calls and on computers. I work in the credit card domain and have to take care of queries and accounts-related issues”, says Shagun who has a locomotor disability.
It’s a role that can get quite demanding but Shagun loves her job because she gets to interact with people and loves the environment around her.
The most I like and love about my job is the cooperative environment, I have been working here for a long time and due to my achievements and qualities everyone knows me. Its an asset to have colleagues who are also friends – Shagun Pathak, Process Advisor, Barclays

Shagun has been recognized with the Global Value Recognition Award twice by Barclays. She also actively participates in the activities of Reach, the employee diversity network. As a person who uses a rollator, Shagun is passionate about creating an accessible environment. “I am an active member of Reach Noida Barclays, which is a community for all employees who are people with disabilities or non-disabled people who want to join this group. I have been trying to bring about changes in the work culture for people with disabilities”.
Garima Dua, Assistant Vice President, Corporate Investment Banking, says Shagun shows great initiative. “Shagun needs to speak to customers day in and day out and has the ability to deliver under pressure. She also came forward to support other employees with disabilities, which few people do. She is always contributing to the agenda of Reach and is vocal about what is not working right. In this way Shagun is a voice for others who may not be so open to speaking out”.
Hardworking, committed and forthright. No wonder Shagun was recognised with the Barclays award for citizenship and diversity at the Asia Pacific level in May 2019.
