NewzHook campaign #JobsForDisabled features Nikhil Rai Sahore, an employee of TEKsystems. TEKsystems is a subsidiary of Allegis Group, which is an international staffing and workforce management firm and is headquartered in the United States. Nikhil, who is totally blind, enjoys learning new technologies in his role.

A Technical Recruiter with TEKsystems, Nikhil Rai Sahore has to find suitable candidates for leading companies. TEKsystems is a division of Allegis Group, which is workforce management firm. Nikhil sources candidates from various job sites, looks closely into their work profiles and shortlists prospective candidates.

I carry out the hygiene checks into each candidate. This involves looking closely into the project details that we are identifying candidates for. I also look into what candidates aspire for themselves and ensure their profiles match the clients’ needs. We interview them and then prepare them for interviews with clients. – Nikhil Rai Sahore, Technical Recruiter, TEKsystems

Nikhil, who is totally blind, handles the recruitments, end to end. “Once they are selected, I get the approvals. I continue to stay in touch with them. I call them every week, check on projects they are handling, and see how I can help them grow in the organisation”.

Nikhil, 27, joined TEKsystems about six months ago after a training stint at EnAble India. “I was sceptical about learning so many technologies because I lack a tech background. I am loving it! There is so much to learn here.”

Strong interpersonal skills

Kaushik Sharma works closely with Nikhil and this is his first experience working with a person with disability. “The conversations Nikhil has with people, be it over the phone or face to face are very good. He is also a great mentor to new employees”.

Nikhil is particular about his commitments, adds Kaushik and is always on time. “He has also adapted well to the demands of his job. Data engineering is one of his specialisations”. Nikhil may have had his reservations but he is clearly a whiz with new technologies!

Another role Nikhil looks forward to exploring is that of event host. “I hosted an inclusive event after Devika Nair, Diversity and Inclusion Head, Allegis Group gave me the opportunity. The experience helped me get over the fear of public speaking and I am open to doing more such events”.

Clearly Nikhil is a man who loves to do his best.
