Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has made a donation of ₹42 lakh for the 'Cauvery Calling', a campaign.
The campaign is the initiative of the Isha Foundation and aims to plant 1 lakh saplings across the basin of Cauvery river and also to help spread awareness about agroforestry among the local farmers.
Speaking to the media about the conservation of the river and need for protection of the ecosystem, Kangana said, "The rivers that are our lifeline are ceasing to exist. The drought in Chennai became a global issue. Leonardo Di Caprio was concerned about it even though he is in the US. Don't you think I will die of shame if I have no concern about what is happening in my country?"
Some other actors such as Kajal Aggarwal ,Tamannaah Bhatia, Nawazuddin Siddiqui have also joined the project to create awareness about water conservation and protection of the Cauvery river.
Kangana's manager and sister Rangoli Chandel also tweeted, "Today on @SadhguruJV birthday we team Kangana pledges to give our all to this movement @rallyforrivers, we pledge to work relentlessly until Cauvery is revitalized."
Kajal Aggarwal who is known for her movies such as Singham, Special 26, tweeted recently about the need for 'Cauvery Calling' initiative.
She wrote, "Our farmers feed 1+ billion people but they are barely eating properly. #CauveryCalling can improve farmers' condition dramatically. @tamannaahspeaks, #KanganaRanaut & I will make it happen. What about you? Donate @… https://instagram.com/p/B2BpigpnciO/?igshid=b3jrwk9ga3m1."
